BIOS 3105 - Laboratory Genetics Experiments in basic bacterial, yeast, and Drosophila molecular genetics. Experiments include site-directed mutagenesis, yeast 2-hybrid analysis, and transposon mutagenesis in Drosophila. Recombinant DNA techniques designed to familiarize the student with current laboratory procedures in molecular genetics.
Requisites: BIOS 3100 Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will demonstrate competence in basic molecular and genetic laboratory techniques.
- Students will understand how science is done by designing hypothetical experiments using techniques learned in class.
