The B.S. in geological sciences is the standard preparation for a professional career in the geological sciences or entry into a graduate program.

Geological Sciences (B.S.) Major Requirements
The major requirement for the (B.S.) degree in Geological Sciences requires 47 hours. Introductory Geology Course
This requirement may be satisifed by taking one of the three following options. Option 1
Complete the following course: Option 2
Complete the following course, plus an additional course as a prerequisite. Plus one of the following courses:
Option 3
Complete the following course: Geological Sciences Core Courses
Complete a total of 47 semester hours of GEOL coursework, including the following: Geological Sciences Electives
Complete any two 4000-level courses in geological sciences. Geological Sciences Majors Extradepartmental Requirements
Complete the following three components. Component 1: Calculus
Complete the following course: Component 2: Chemistry
Complete one of the following two options. Option 1: Principles of Chemistry
Complete the following courses: Option 2: Principles of Chemistry
Complete the following courses: Component 3: Biology or Physics
Complete one of the following four options. Option 1: Physics
