EDLE 6610 - School-Community Relations and Education Policy Focuses on principles and agents involved in school-community relations and education policy. Students develop an understanding of collaborative models and communication approaches to school and community relations. Students analyze problem situations and simulations of school-community partnerships in public school administration, higher education administration, and sports administration contexts to develop effective approaches for engaging with stakeholders. This course focuses on ideas related to public policy, politics and power in education, educational decision-making, community power structure, ideas related to school board member nomination and election, and the administrator’s base of community influence. Students consider the political basis of education public policy-making on local, state, and national levels.

- Students will be able to describe and justify stances historical perspectives about educational landmark policies.

- Students will be able to identify and analyze community power structures and politics related to school issues.
- Students will be able to describe an educational leader’s influence in the community.
