PA 5251 - Pharmacology for the Physician Assistant II


As the second course in a three-part series, provides the physician assistant student with a foundation in pharmacology that will be applied in the evidence-based pharmacologic management of disease.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to select appropriate pharmacologic treatments based on patient presentation.
  • Students will be able to apply knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics to the development of an individual treatment plan.
  • Students will be able to use basic pharmaceutical calculations to determine appropriate dosage of drug therapy.
  • Students will be able to apply knowledge of commonly prescribed drugs to form a basic treatment plan.
  • Students will be able to describe various aspects of pharmacologic treatment that apply in the treatment of diverse populations.
