ENG 6595 - Current and Emerging Conversations in Rhetoric and Composition


This course introduces students to a contemporary and/or emerging scholarly conversation within the field of Rhetoric and Composition. Students investigate the origins of that conversation while also learning about professional academic genres. In so doing, they learn how to identify and trace scholarly conversations, navigate academic conflicts, and ultimately participate in conversations themselves.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 2
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.5 seminar
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to identify major figures and points of view in a scholarly conversation.
  • Students will be able to describe both historical origins and contemporary influences on a current scholarly conversation.
  • Students will be able to write in common professional academic genres.
