CE 4913 - Senior Design- Construction Management This is an advanced applied construction management course that utilizes concepts from multiple fundamental construction management courses to design and carry out a horizontal construction project.
Requisites: CE 3160, CE 4160, CE 4170 and Senior Credit Hours: 3 OHIO BRICKS: Bridge: Learning and Doing, Capstone: Capstone or Culminating Experience Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 6.0 field experience/internship Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Term(s) Typically Offered: Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to function effectively within a team setting.
- Students will be able to design a construction project in the heavy highway construction industry.
- Students will be able to evaluate their own performance within the team to improve their communication and technical/management skills.
- Students will be able to compile a detailed written report with figures and tables, detailing the means, methods, quantities, costs, schedule, productivity and utilization for a complete construction project.
- Students will be able to explain through project submissions viewpoints of the owner, contractor, and designer as related to construction projects.
- Students will be able to connect their field experiences with their educational knowledge obtained in classroom on the senior design project that encompasses an entire construction project.
- Students will be able to successfully defend at the end of the semester their work in an oral presentation with visuals in front of a panel of experts within the construction industry.
