HLTH 4912 - Social and Public Health Field Experience Structured field experience involving public health and healthcare systems. Observation and participation in activities of a community health agency, healthcare facility, policymaking agency, or health services program, domestic or abroad.
Requisites: Permission required and HLTH 2000 and (Jr or Sr) Credit Hours: 1 to 5 OHIO BRICKS: Bridge: Learning and Doing Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 5.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 6.0 field experience/internship Eligible Grades: F,CR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to explain the interdisciplinary nature of health prevention, promotion, and protection.
- Students will be able to describe the health promotion activities delivered by a public health agency.
- Students will be able to discuss the mechanisms for delivery of healthcare services in the field experience setting.
- Students will be able to compare and contrast the healthcare delivery system in the field experience setting to that in their local community.
- Students will be able to synthesize and present research related to their field experience using diverse media.
- Students will be able to reflect on the transformative experience of immersion in a community setting different from their own.
