MBA 6320 - Descriptive Analytics Business analytics can be subcategorized into three primary fields of study. These fields include descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Descriptive analytics serves as a foundation to all other forms of analytics. The primary goal of this course is to provide students with the skills to effectively summarize, visualize, and manage data within software environments that are commonly used in various business contexts. In this course, topics include, but are not limited to, conditional descriptive statistics, measures of central location, measures of dispersion, discrete and continuous probability distributions, hypothesis tests for business scenarios, as well as data visualization. Students also learn to develop and construct efficient data analysis solutions by synthesizing order of operations, advanced formatting, conditional logic, and data retrieval techniques. In addition, students assess predictive models using forecasting accuracy metrics and implement decision-making techniques for business applications.
