NRSE 6845 - Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Practicum III

Focuses on adult gerontological acute care nurse practitioner role competencies and proficiencies in the acute care setting. Emphasis is on the advanced clinical judgment and decision making within the context of an interdisciplinary team caring for adults with complex conditions in the acute care setting.

Requisites: NRSE 6847
Credit Hours: 6
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.5 lecture, 5.0 clinical

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to integrate the role of the AGACNP to provide healthcare for adult individuals from diverse backgrounds with emergent or complex health problems in the acute care setting.
  • Students will be able to synthesize knowledge from the physiological, psychological, social, and health sciences to provide evidence-based care collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Students will be able to collaborate to develop, implement, and evaluate healthcare strategies that address cultural diversity, reduce errors, and optimize safe, effective systems of healthcare delivery.
  • Students will be able to incorporate cost effectiveness of care through innovation and evidence-based practice.
  • Students will be able to analyze information and communication technology to impact care delivery of adults in the acute care setting.
  • Students will be able to integrate ethical principles and legal requirements related to advanced practice nursing with adults and older adults in acute care settings.
