NRSE 6846 - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum I
Focuses on the transition to the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner role for individuals and families in the psychiatric mental health setting. Emphasis is on advanced assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management relevant to the developmental, physical, and psycho-social health issues of individuals and families across the lifespan in the psychiatric mental healthcare setting.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to describe the role of the PMHNP to provide healthcare for individuals and families from diverse backgrounds with psychiatric mental health problems.
- Students will be able to discuss the knowledge from physiological, psychological, social, and health sciences to provide evidence-based care collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Students will be able to identify differential diagnoses and symptom management plans for individuals and families in the psychiatric mental health setting.
- Students will be able to describe evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment modalities for selected psychiatric mental health disorders across the lifespan.
- Students will be able to identify the social, ethical, legal, economic, political, technological, and environmental issues in the care of individuals and families by a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
- Students will be able to discuss effective management plans to optimize client outcomes.
