NRSE 6848 - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum III

Focuses on the role, competencies and proficiencies for the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in the inpatient and community setting. Emphasis is on advanced clinical judgement and decision making within the context of an interdisciplinary team caring for individuals and families across the lifespan in the psychiatric mental health care setting.

Requisites: NRSE 6847
Credit Hours: 6

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to integrate the role of the PMHNP to provide healthcare for individuals and families from diverse backgrounds with psychiatric mental health problems.
  • Students will be able to synthesize knowledge from physiological, psychological, social, and health sciences to provide evidence-based care collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Students will be able to develop, implement, and evaluate healthcare strategies that address cultural diversity, reduce errors, and optimize safe, effective systems of healthcare delivery.
  • Students will be able to incorporate cost effective care through innovation and evidence-based practice.
  • Students will be able to analyze information and communication technology to impact care delivery of psychiatric mental healthcare clients.
  • Students will be able to apply ethical principles and legal requirements related to advanced practice nursing for individuals and families across the lifespan.
