E E 572 - Introduction to Digital Communications

Review of deterministic and stochastic signal and system characterizations, sampling, quantization. Baseband pulse signaling, the matched filter, and intersymbol interference. Introduction to signal spaces and distance concepts. Bandpass modulations and their performance in AWGN. Link budget analysis, communication system tradeoffs.
