C S 458 - Operating Systems and Computer Architecture II

Continuation of 442. Detailed discussion of virtual memory and backing stores. File system interfaces, implementation, and protection mechanisms. Process scheduling issues, policies, and mechanisms. Interprocess communication between programs on different computers. Distributed systems issues, examples, and implementation.

Prerequisites: C S 442
Credit Hours: 5
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken three times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
