HIST 314F - American Social Thought Since 1915 Major aspects of intellectual history of U.S. since 1915, with principal attention to continuing impact of evolutionary naturalism, especially in development of pragmatism; trends in liberal and conservative political ideologies; rise of pessimistic theology and its ramifications; modernism in arts; New Radicalism and Counterculture.
Prerequisites: SOPH OR JR OR SR Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken one time excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
