MATH 610 - Topics in Applied Abstract Algebra


Applications of abstract systems such as groups, rings, fields, vector spaces to problems in computer science, engineering, physical, biological, and social sciences. Topics may vary from year to year at the choice of the instructor. The following are some examples: Applications of Boolean algebra to switching circuits; Algebraic cryptography; Balanced Incomplete Block Designs.
