OCOM 713 - Addiction, Pain and Palliative Care
This two-week course focuses on topics related to addiction, pain and palliative care. Addiction topics include abuse of and dependence on alcohol, prescription drugs and illicit drugs, as well as other addictions. Topics dealing with chronic pain, palliative care and hospice also will be addressed. A focus of the course is the holistic approach to comprehensive pain and symptom management, and insights into caring for these patients from a primary care standpoint. A solid foundation in the management of addiction, pain and end-of-life care is a crucial component of medicine that students will find very helpful in their personal and professional lives.
