AAS 355 - History of African American Music I, Slavery-1926

Sociohistorical examination of African American music and its role in shaping American music. Recordings and guest lecturers used as integral part of course. Examines spirituals, rural blues, ragtime, and early jazz.
Prerequisites: ONE CRSE IN FINE ARTS OR HUM
