HIST 3190 - Sports In American History and Culture


Examines the role sports has played in American culture from early America to the present. Topics include the rise of various sports like baseball, boxing, and football, the advent of professional sports, sports and social class, sports and gender, sports and race including the desegregation of sports, changing concepts of fitness, doping scandals, fandom and the business of sports, and international sports and diplomacy.

Requisites: Soph or Jr or Sr
Credit Hours: 3.0
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
