HIST 3301 - African History Through Film Explores transformations in the nature of African societies, cultures and economies in the 20th- century, particularly in the post-1960 period. Film is used as a medium for studying issues as they are understood by Africans themselves. African filmmakers seen as social historians, historians concerned with the everyday nature of the lives of common people.
