MUS 1690X - Wind Band Abroad This course is for the enrichment of our band students in the Marching 110 and Wind Symphony and to expose the uniqueness of American bands to France. Both ensembles are open to all student at Ohio University via audition. The course will begin with a history of the musical arts within France and the historical Franco-American connection. It will also introduce students to some conversational basics of the French language as well as French culture. Students will additionally learn about travel safety and risk mitigation in France. During the second half of the semester, students will learn and rehearse the musical repertoire to be performed in Paris and Normandy. The capstone of the course is the trip to France in May, 2016. Performances will take place in Paris and Normandy.
