ISE 5150 - Information Systems Engineering An introduction to applications of information systems industry and the design and implementation of these systems. Students will also learn systems modeling and database development.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Define computer based information systems and information technology.
- Describe common methods for data communications.
- Describe how information flows support supply chains.
- Develop specifications and build a small scale information system.
- Explain how a Knowledge Based System can support operations.
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of developing a system using a database management system.
- Explain the differences between Transaction Processing and Management Information Systems.
- Explain the how information needs change in the hierarchy of a company.
- Understand how data, information and knowledge differ in information systems.
- Use a database management systems to develop reports and tables.
- Apply a data modeling standard to develop conceptual database designs.
