ISE 6420 - Warehouse and Distribution Systems Design Quantitative and operational approach to the design of the total receiving, storage, and retrieval system including packaging, palletizing, storage, order picking, shipping, facility design, information systems, and operating policy.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Apply optimization methods to determine the design or configuration of warehouse operations.
- Describe non-traditional warehouse operations, such as cross-docking and 3PL.
- Describe the operations that are performed in a traditional warehouse.
- Explain the appropriate use for typical pieces of material handling equipment.
- Explain the role of interfacility logistics in warehouse operations.
- Recognize the importance of ergonomics in designing and managing warehouse operations.
- Select appropriate material handling equipment for a given warehouse operation.
- Understand applications for Auto ID technologies in warehousing and distribution.
