IHS 5302 - Health Policy: Current Issues, Trends and Emerging Topics


Current issues in local, state and national health policy are presented. The emphasis of this class is the analysis and evaluation of current trends and emerging topics in health policy.

Requisites: IHS 5300 and 5301
Credit Hours: 3

Learning Outcomes:
  • The student will be able to identify current and emerging trends and issues in population health, healthcare delivery, and health promotion.
  • The student will be able to describe current policy approaches associated with current health-related issues.
  • The student will be able to describe how current laws impact health policy at the local, state and national level.
  • The student will be able to identify epidemiological evidence that guided development of current health policies.
  • The student will be able to analyze outcomes associated with current health policies.
  • The student will be able to identify areas of concern in current health policy.
  • The student will be able to develop informed recommendations as to how to best address those concerns.
