EDCE 6700 - Organizational Theory and Techniques in Counseling Identification of need for counseling and human resource development programs in the workplace. Employee assistance programs, training and development, and career development issues addressed. Content can be considered for a variety of work settings such as business and industry, educational institutions, and mental health facilities.
Requisites: EDCE 6200 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Articulate the advantages to having access to EAPs for employers, employees and their families.
- Articulate the importance of the role played by Employee Assistance Programs when dealing with critical incidents and natural disasters.
- Design and analyze EAP components including, development of programming and services and training and development of EAP professionals.
- Discuss the ethical and legal issues that are matters of importance to EAP professionals.
- Identify and discuss special topics of interest and emerging trends within the EAP community.
- Identify and formulate solutions to the obstacles that EAP professionals face in performing workplace counseling.
- Identify the roles and purposes of EAP professionals.
