EDCE 7320 - Personality Assessment Advanced appraisal techniques reviewed, with particular attention to personality measures. Both objective and projective techniques considered, and each student is expected to develop applied expertise with a method of each type. For students enrolled in the doctoral program or advanced master’s level. The content is designed to prepare the student to become familiar with clinical instruments related to personality assessment. Students will interpret and understand psychological testing and clinical evaluations and acquire a greater depth of knowledge regarding the use of test data in the diagnostic process. Consideration will be given to ethical issues in the handling and administration of psychological assessment instruments, including potential forms of bias in interpretation.

Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Become familiar with the ethical considerations when conducting psychological assessments including the issue of bias in the instruments. (CACREP Standards 7g, CMHC[A2][H1] ).
- Become familiar with reliability and validity of personality assessments (CACREP Standards 7d; e).
- Demonstrate skill in conducting an intake interview, a mental status evaluation, a bio-psychosocial history, a mental health history, and a psychological assessment for treatment planning and caseload management (CMHC [H2][G4])
- Have a historical perspective concerning the nature and meaning of personality assessment (CACREP Standards 7a).
- Have an understanding of how age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, language, disability, culture, and other factors are related to the assessment and evaluation of individuals, groups, and specific populations (CACREP Standards 7f).
- Identify standard screening and assessment instruments for substance abuse disorders and addictions ( CACREP Standards CMHC[G4][H3][H4]
