EDCE 7380 - Gerontological Counseling


Attitude awareness regarding older persons, knowledge of developmental periods of aging, basic gerontological counseling concepts, and skills in applying knowledge of aging and counseling to work with older persons are emphasized.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will gain an understanding of the issues specific to working with the older adult population in a counseling setting (2.G.3, 2.G.5).
  • The student will become a critical consumer of articles and books pertaining to issues relating to human development and the aging process.
  • The students will have an opportunity to explore first-hand adult development and aging through a service learning project.
