EDCP 6300 - The Helping Relationship in Higher Education
The purpose of this class is to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to help students navigate mental health challenges they encounter in the college context.
Requisites:
Credit Hours: 4
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture, 1.0 laboratory
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to define and apply rapport building skills.
- Students will be able to identify and practice boundary setting.
- Students will be able to name and describe major mental health issues on college campuses.
- Students will be able to identify and practice multiculturally competent helping skills.
- Students will be able to engage in the personal reflection and self-care necessary to help others.
