EDHE 7850 - Organization and Governance of Higher Education In-depth study of internal organizational patterns and structure of a variety of institutions of higher learning. The purpose is to provide a context for the study of organization and governance in higher education and to enhance students’ ability to understand organizations of higher education, to analyze organizations, and to act within those organizations to enhance effective governance, decision-making, and change.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 1.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Articulate the theoretical constructs of major conceptual models of governance of higher education in the U.S.
- Delineate appropriate steps or methodologies in the application of organizational theory and the discernment of effective governance.
- Distinguish and explain how various stakeholders interact within colleges and universities¿public and private, 4-year and 2-year.
- Identify stakeholders and their roles involved in the organization and governance of higher education.
