EDTE 7260 - Secondary Reading Instruction Materials, methods, and techniques of secondary reading instruction for teaching adolescent learners of various abilities. Emphasis on diagnosis of reading difficulties and adaptation of materials and teaching methods for content area instruction. This course contains a practicum experience working with an adolescent student with reading/literacy difficulties. Instruction is within one of the student’s content areas with which the student is having problems in school.
Requisites: EDTE 7220 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 practicum Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Candidates will develop the knowledge, dispositions, and skills necessary for developing literacy as well as with the new literacy with adolescents.
- Candidates will develop an in-depth understanding of the new literacy surrounding the technology used by adolescents.
- Candidates will develop an understanding of the nature and needs of the adolescent student.
