DANC 6620 - Seminar in Dance Studies Research This course provides an introduction to scholarship and research methodologies in dance studies. Students become conversant with key theories and methodologies that have shaped the interdisciplinary field of dance research. Topics include cultural, social, aesthetic, and educational dance contexts; types of primary sources for dance research; and considerations in research design.

Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify key theories and methodologies of dance studies such as historiography, ethnography, performance analysis, cultural studies, and practice as research.
- Students will be able to write summaries of dance studies scholarship.
- Students will be able to lead a group discussion comparing two scholarly articles.
- Students will be able to design a research project relevant to an area of professional interest.
