ANTH 3010 - Visual Anthropology The use of film as a medium for recording cultural information; as a technique for observation, analysis, and interpretation of cultural information; and as a means for presenting information about cultures, human adaptation, human evolution, and anthropological research itself.
Requisites: ANTH 1010 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. - Explore key anthropological concepts through critical analyses of visual representations of various cultures and societies.
- Explore the ethical dimensions and learn IRB requirements for filming human subjects.
- Learn ways in which anthropologists convey the knowledge they have gained through their fieldwork through film and other visual media.
- Learn ways in which anthropologists use film and other visual mediums to research the human condition.
