GEOG 3580 - Environmental Hazards Systematic introduction to the concepts, problems, and methods that guide the identification and assessment of environmental risk with emphasis on natural hazards and their geophysical dimensions.
Requisites: 6 Hours in GEOG and (Jr or Sr) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will develop a detailed understanding of hazard and risk assessment methodologies.
- Students will gain significant knowledge of the geographical dimensions of environmental hazards and the role of hazard in shaping human-environmental interactions.
- Students will understand the role of hazard assessment in spatial planning and environmental management.
