NRSE 1111 - Clinical Judgment I
Provides an introduction to the profession of nursing. Topics include the history and legal basis of practice, critical thinking, scientific method and nursing process, medical and health care terminology, assessment of learning style, foundation of written communication skills and an introduction to campus resources.
Requisites: Pre-Nursing major
Credit Hours: 2
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 seminar

Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to compare and contrast responsibilities of various health care professionals.
- Students will be able to define concepts of health and illness.
- Students will be able to describe critical thinking.
- Students will be able to discuss scientific thinking and nursing process in the development of therapeutic interventions.
- Students will be able to identify legal and professional expectations of registered nursing practice.
- Students will be able to review the history of the profession of nursing.
- Students will be able to utilize written communication and American Psychological Association (APA) style and format appropriately.
- Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Students will be able to assess personal learning style.
- Students will be able to define cultural competencies and its relationship to health care delivery.
