SPAN 4513 - Survey of Spanish American Literature I Main movements of Spanish American literature from colonial period to Modernismo.
Requisites: SPAN 3550 or 354 or 356 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Analyze the development of literary style and structure in a sociopolitical context.
- Express ideas and findings in class discussions, group and individual oral presentations and short directed writings.
- Write 3-5 page original academic papers by consulting the MLA International Bibliography and following the MLA style.
- The successful student will: Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the various movements in Latin American poetry and prose from 1492 to 1905 and their relationship with culture and history.
