THAR 2170 - Voice and Speech for the Actor I Vocal exercises aimed at releasing undue tension in the voice and an introduction to speech exercises including phonetics and articulation.
Requisites: BFA Acting major Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 6.0 studio Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Explain the basic anatomy of vocal production, speech and the articulators.
- Identify and articulate phonetic symbols from the IPA.
- Incorporate a voice and speech warm-up in preparation for performance.
- Utilize relaxation techniques, breath awareness and physical release in performance.
- Verbalize responses to vocal work in a critical and articulate manner.
