TAS 3210 - Research for Technical and Applied Studies


This course emphasizes both an understanding of research methods and the development of the critical skills necessary to interpret and to convey research results. Students conduct a significant research proposal and demonstrate understanding of the importance of research to their careers.

Requisites: TAS 3010 and (ATCH 2090 or MATH 2500 or MATH 250 or PSY 1110 or 2110 or QBA 2010) and one Tier I English junior-level composition course
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture

Learning Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the components of research design.
  • Examine the impact research has in society.
  • Identify sources of information for a literature review.
  • Integrate the components of research design into a proposal.
  • Use critical thinking and analysis skills to critique a research article for its effectiveness.
