AT 3001 - Clinical Skills in Sports Medicine Introduction to patient care skills for students pursuing a career in sports medicine, including, but not limited to: physical examination process, emergency care, use of prophylactic taping and bracing techniques, palpation, and range of motion testing.
Requisites: AT 1001 and EXPH 2280 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify emergency situations in which the emergency medical system should be activated.
- Students will be able to implement first aid in an emergency situation.
- Students will be able to identify appropriate taping, wrapping, or bracing techniques for injury prevention.
- Students will be able to perform functional taping, wrapping, or bracing techniques for injury management.
- Students will be able to identify commonly palpated anatomical landmarks.
- Students will be able to measure joint angles.
