CHEM 5805 - Advanced Organic Synthesis: Reactions and Mechanisms This course will provide an overview of modern organic synthesis. This course is designed for the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate student who desires a deeper understanding of organic synthesis as initially presented in the typical undergraduate organic course.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Be able to use online databases to identify useful reactions.
- Know and use functional group transformations for the synthesis of complex molecules.
- Proficient in using reaction mechanisms to determine reaction products.
- Understand the relationship between molecular shape and reactivity.
