WGSS 6020 - Gender, Sexuality & Healthcare This course is an introduction to selected topics in the intersections of gender, sexuality, medicine, and health care. Students will learn how to think about medical issues intersectionally, from epidemiological trends based on gender and sexuality, to contemporary health policy debates.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to explain the ways in which gender and sexuality shape health and health care.
- Students will be able to identify patterns and causes of health outcomes and disparities related to gender and sexuality.
- Students will be able to compare and contrast various systems of knowledge for the diagnosis and treatment of gender and sexuality-specific diseases.
- Students will be able to differentiate historical and contemporary policy debates related to gender, sexuality, and reproductive health.
- Students will be able to explain contemporary barriers to health care access related to gender and sexuality.
