CS 4180 - Statistical Foundation for Bioinformatics Introduces statistics and stochastic process theory, and makes applications in the field Bioinformatics, i.e., the study and analysis of biological, and in particular genetic, data.
Requisites: CS 4170 and EE 3713 and (CS 4160 or PBIO 4160) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will demonstrate an ability to solve problems involving probability and genomic sequences.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to solve problems involving finite Markov chain probabilities.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to solve problems involving random walks, estimation, and alignment.
