ETM 3490 - Plastics Tooling Study of tooling required for extrusion, injection molding, compression molding, thermo-forming, and other production processes used to produce plastic parts. Lab activities include design and construction of molds for plastic forming.
Requisites: ETM 2080 and 2180 and (ETM 3510 or (IT 216 and IT 351)) or and advanced standing in ETM Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - The student will a mold to be used in the plastics lab.
- The student will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the safe and correct use of the processing equipment located in the O.U. plastics labs.
- The student will be able to design molds used in various plastics processes including injection and compression molding.
- The student will be able to identify the major components of the molds and describe their purpose.
- The student will demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethical behavior and professionalism during all class activities.
- The student will understand and be able to explain the molding processes, their uses.
- The student will work effectively in a team environment during a variety of class activities.
