MGT 2000 - Introduction to Management Understanding of and practice in solving problems facing managers and administrators using concepts and principles from behavioral sciences and other applicable disciplines. Fundamentals of management, planning, and organization are covered.
Requisites: Not COB major except (BS5511 or BS6108 or BS6109) and (Soph or Jr or Sr) and WARNING: no credit if taken after MGT2100 Credit Hours: 3 General Education Code (students who entered prior to Fall 2021-22): 2SS Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to apply principles of management to real-world situations.
- Students will be able to illustrate the importance of effective managerial planning, organizing, leading, and controlling in organizations.
- Students will be able to describe strategy formulation and strategy implementation as managerial responsibilities.
- Students will be able to identify processes of attracting, developing, and maintaining a high quality workforce.
- Students will be able to identify relationships between basic business laws and managerial duties.
- Students will be able to apply concepts of motivation, conflict resolution, and team dynamics in analyzing cases.
- Students will be able to assess cases involving the challenges of managing successfully in an environment of workforce diversity, the global economy, and concern for legal and ethical behavior, along with corporate social responsibility.
- Students will be able to assess individual strengths and areas for growth for enhanced personal and managerial effectiveness.
