CE 6620 - Transportation Design I Fundamentals of route design (sight distance, horizontal and vertical alignment, superelevation), design of interchanges and intersections, access management issues, roadway elements (pavement markings and signage), and economic considerations.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to design interchanges and intersections.
- Students will be able to discuss roadway elements such as pavement markings, signage, and utilities.
- Students will be able to position elements such as roadside barriers, bridge railings, crash cushions in a highway section.
- Students will be able to design a roadway section, applying the fundamentals of route design (sight distance, horizontal & vertical alignment, superelevation).
- Students will be able to discuss access management issues related to transportation.
