CFS 6750 - Introduction to Principles of Family Consulting The purpose is to prepare students for advanced consultation with families in a broad range of human services settings. Theoretical approaches to assessment and intervention are considered as is the acquisition of advanced skill sets in working with families. Special emphasis is placed on the complex challenges of working with diverse populations from a strengths-based perspective.

- Demonstrate knowledge of major family systems theorists in context of consultation with families and individuals within family systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the ethical issues involved with family consulting.
- Demonstrate the ability to help families identify reasonable goals needed to create stability.
- Develop specific skill sets necessary for effective consulting with families in terms of problem identification and solution.
