CHE 5400 - Advanced Topics in Materials Science and Engineering Structure, processing, and applications of ceramics, polymers, and composites. Corrosion and degradation of materials. Electrical, thermal, optical, and magnetic properties of materials. Materials selection and design.

Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify the major classes of materials, their particular properties and their main industrial applications.
- Students will be able identify basic synthesis/fabrication methods of metals, polymers, ceramics and composites.
- Students will be able to articulate how a material’s structure at the atomic and microscopic levels, influences its electrical, thermal, optical, magnetic and deteriorative properties.
