GEOG 6310 - Seminar in Regional Geography: Africa


Examines the nature of environmental and development interventions in Africa. Critically analyzes whose knowledge counts in the discourses of environmental conservation and development. Uses a critical geography lens to Illustrate theory with several hot topics in African geography.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 4
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 8.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 seminar, 1.0 research

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will develop a clear understanding of the breath of social science research that is concerned with interactions between environment and development issues.
  • Students will engage critically with contemporary thought and practice in environment and development in Africa
  • Students will explore recent research in a specific thematic area that is relevant to each graduate students’ specific research interests
