Principles governing the use of relative changes in sea level to interpret sedimentary sequences with an emphasis on field and core examples.

  • Demonstrate their understanding of the terminology and principles of this technique during field trips and by logging cores.
  • Know the historical development of the technique of sequence stratigraphy with emphasis on siliciclastic sediments in a seminar format.
  • Read original papers on the application of this technique to different depositional environments ranging from deep marine to lakes.
