Appreciation of the literary art of Plato.
Understanding of the cultural and historical circumstances of the rise of Greek science and philosophy.
Understanding of the key scientific and philosophic concerns of the period: truth, being, knowledge, nature and culture, etc.
Understanding of the relation of personalities from whom we have little or no writings (Socrates, the sophists) to Plato’s influential portrayals.
