ITS 6440 - Strategic Issues in Information and Telecommunication Systems Technology and Policy Employs extensive readings and illustrative case studies in the analysis of the strategic concerns involved in the successful deployment of voice, data, image and information technologies and services within user organizations, service providers, and vendor enterprises. The successful deployment of these technologies and services requires an understanding of the interplay of an array of technical concerns, policy considerations, markets and human/social issues. Provides students with the opportunity to grasp the interplay of these concerns and issues through strategic assessment, lifecycle management, and information and telecommunication system procurement.
Requisites: ITS 6000 and 6250 Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify strategic choices in order to select and implement the chosen strategy.
- Students will be able to perform strategic assessments through SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and targets) analysis.
- Students will be able to analyzr corporate, business unit, and operational strategies as they relate to information and telecommunication systems, services, and product goals.
- Students will be able to design a strategic project implementation in terms of system/service/product lifecycles and procurement.
