LING 5700 - Syntactic Description of English Focuses on the prominent structural patterns observed in various phrases and sentences in English. The approach is descriptive rather than explanatory. The students learn how to analyze syntactic patterns of English objectively and how to express them in grammatical terminology.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will will be able to name the major syntactic components in English.
